The local area

Pont de Chambon is located in tranquil countryside surrounded by vineyards, plum orchards and rolling hills. There are many local vineyards that offer tastings and sales that can be reached easily by car, or for the more energetic by bike or on foot.

The house is situated between two bustling market towns. Duras (4kms) dominated by the historic Chateau in the centre of the town. It has a good selection of Bars, Restaurants, Supermarkets and a good weekly market. Monsegur (7kms) is a very interesting Bastide town with a wide range of amenities. In July Monsegur hosts an excellent Jazz Festival which attracts visitors worldwide..
Markets are held weekly in the towns throughout the region In high season (July/Aug) there are Night Markets offering food,wine,market stalls and live music.

Further afield

There are many other lovely towns to visit in the area:- St Emilion, not only for wine tasting, but also try the Champenoise at the Old Cloisters ( originally made by the monks ). Bergerac situated on the scenic Dordogne river is approximately 35mins away. It has a lovely old town, excellent market and offers boat trips on the river.

 The Dordogne  River is approximately 20 kms from the house offering canoeing and riverside walks at St Foy le Grande.

The Chateau des Vigiers near Saussignac has an excellent golf course and Michelin Star Restaurant on site. Tennis,cycling, horse riding and many good walks are within a few kms of the house.
